I have been adding to my design repertoire with Autodesk fusion 360. I have been a dedicated solidworks user for almost 14 years. It’s a vital component to my product solution skill set. My design experience and needs have taken me from not just an industrial designer but a design engineer as well. Taking the design from not just a thoughtful solution but an actual manufacturable concept. This is a reason Alias or Rhino are not realistic design tools for me. That being said Soildworks is still a very expensive and now lately a very top heavy program. It’s allure in the past was being a designer friendly option to say Pro E or autocad. Today I feel it’s slowly gravitating towards that unfortunately. Loaded with features that are either unnecessary or redundant and can be susceptible to bugs and crashes.
